Ambuludto lifts Wangs Basketball over Gamboa
MANILA, Philippines – John Ambuludto came through with the game-winner to lift Wangs Basketball to a thrilling 88-86 victory over Gamboa Coffee Mix in the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup on Tuesday at the Ynares Sports Center.
The center from St. Clare College caught a pass from Tim Habelito, and found himself open with the time winding down. Ambuludto went up for a floater, which trickled down the basket as time expired to end the Couriers' two-game losing streak.
"Wala na akong magagawa kung 'di itira 'yun," said Ambuludto, who had four points and five rebounds while playing through foul trouble.
Robbie Herndon made three of his five shots from beyond the arc to lead Wangs with 27 points on top of five assists and two assists.
Michael Juico contributed 22 points, four assists, and three rebounds.
The Couriers squandered a 70-61 edge early in the fourth period, and even trailed, 76-79, with 2:30 to play as Gamboa embarked on a 12-1 scoring run.
