Cignal zaps Racal in PBA D-League Finals rematch
MANILA, Philippines – Cignal HD dominated Racal Motors, 93-75, to claim its fifth victory in the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup on Tuesday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
To finish off a difficult schedule that saw them play seven games in 10 playdates, the Hawkeyes came out swinging and jumped out to a 21-point lead, 42-21, early in the second frame.
They went up by as much as 23 points, 59-36, in the third quarter, before eventually fending off the Alibaba in the payoff period.
"I'm happy that we won this one," said Coach Boyet Fernandez. "But still, I hate the way we played in the third quarter. It seemed like we didn't know how to play basketball, with us giving up so many points and so many turnovers."
Cignal allowed Racal to cut the deficit to as low as six, 72-66, after a Rian Ayonayon fastbreak with 6:16 left to play.
"But as bad as we played in the third, credit to them in the fourth quarter, because we looked like a different team," said Fernandez.
