MANILA, Philippines – Tey Teodoro took charge in the final quarter as Jose Rizal University (JRU) broke away from De La Salle-College of St. Benilde (CSB), 90-77, and tightened its grip of the third spot in the NCAA Season 93 standings on Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Jed Mendoza scored 19 points, while Teodoro scored nine of his 16 points in the final frame as the Heavy Bombers racked up their second win in a row to improve their win-loss record to 9-6. Abdul Wahab Abdul Razak contributed a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds in the contest.

"Yung panalo namin ngayon, maganda for us. Medyo nasisilip na namin siguro (ang Final 4)," said JRU coach Vergel Meneses. "But we have to win against San Sebastian pa rin."

The victory put JRU a full two games ahead of Colegio de San Juan de Letran, which is in fourth place with an 8-7 win-loss slate.

JRU broke the game open in the second quarter, outscoring CSB, 30-15, to take a 51-35 advantage into the break. But the Blazers refused to fall behind, as Clement Leutcheu and JJ Domingo sparked CSB's comeback in third frame.
