TNT downplays fatigue factor after huge loss to Ginebra

MANILA, Philippines – The TNT KaTropa denied that fatigue was the cause of their lackluster performance against Barangay Ginebra in Game 1 of their PBA Governors' Cup semis series, even if they could have been forgiven for using that excuse.

TNT just wrapped up a difficult quarter-finals match-up against Rain or Shine, hacking out a 118-114 win on Saturday to advance. Meanwhile, Ginebra had four days to rest and prepare after dismissing San Miguel Beer last Wednesday.

Ginebra coach Tim Cone acknowledged that they hoped fatigue would play a factor in the series opener.

"Their (quarterfinals series) was really tiring," he pointed out after Ginebra wrapped up a 121-94 victory on Monday evening at the Big Dome. "I guess maybe, we hoped they would be a little lethargic after that tough Rain or Shine series."

But TNT coach Nash Racela made it clear that TNT should not be dwelling too much on thoughts of fatigue, but acknowledged that the quick turnaround between games made it quite hard for them to prepare.
