Mendoza busts out in Heavy Bombers’ return to winning form

Slowly but surely, however, that may no longer be the case in the NCAA 93 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Second-year guard Jed Mendoza introduced himself and the Heavy Bombers fended off Colegio de San Juan de Letran for a 65-62 decision at the Filoil Flying V Centre, Friday.
Mendoza stepped up big-time and scored 17 points, six coming in the final frame, to carry his team back into the win column now at 2-2.
It was the 21-year-old’s spin to score that capped off JRU’s 10-4 rush that increased a four-point lead into a 61-50 advantage with 4:08 remaining.
With the Knights still alive and kicking at 62-65 with under 10 ticks to go, it was also Mendoza’s defensive stop on JP Calvo that sealed the deal on the Heavy Bombers’ bounce back.
