Acaylar hopes NCAA volleyball also goes 'on Tour'

MANILA, Philippines – After seeing the fans' response to the "NCAA on Tour," Perpetual Help volleyball coach Sammy Acaylar is hopeful that the league will also consider bringing volleyball games closer to students.

Acaylar joined the Perpetual Help contingent last Thursday to watch the Altas face off against the Cardinals at the Mapua Gym. Though he confesses that he is not a big fan of basketball, Acaylar was nevertheless thrilled to see the Altas hack out a 63-60 victory over the home team.

"I want to win, because this is Perpetual, and I'm here to support my university," Acaylar told ABS-CBN News after the game. "It's great, because ganito pala 'yung basketball. Hindi naman talaga ako fan ng basketball."

Thursday's game marked the second stop of the "NCAA on Tour," a new initiative in Season 93 wherein the league travels to different member-schools so as to give students the chance to watch their teams up close and personal.

"It's nice to play in the venue, the Mapua Gym," said Acaylar.

Asked if he hopes that the "NCAA on Tour" will extend to the volleyball tournament, Acaylar answered with a firm "yes."
