Renaldo Balkman on Manila return — ‘The past is past’

Former PBA import Renaldo Balkman is just thankful for being given a second chance to play in the country.

Balkman, who was banned from the PBA for his meltdown nearly 5 years ago, joined fellow import Justin Brownlee in towing Tanduay Alab Pilipinas to a 90-79 domination of Westports Malaysia Dragons in the ASEAN Basketball League at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

"It felt good . . . The past is past. Today is great day for me being back in the Philippines," the former New York Knick told sports scribes following their win on Wednesday.

Balkman was a prized import of San Miguel (then known as Petron) during the 2013 PBA Commissioner's Cup, averaging 25 points and 13.4 rebounds.

But Balkman went on a rampage during a game against Alaska after failing to get a call that he wanted. This led to him being fined P500,000 and being banned from the league.
