Merciless Magnolia fires up afterburners in second half to flatten Kia
Justin Melton scored 23 points and Magnolia simply had its way against Kia in a 124-77 victory in the PBA Philippine Cup at Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.
Magnolia raised its record to 2-1, while Kia fell to 0-3 and solo last place.
The loss was Kia's 15th straight overall, the most since the 2007-08 season, according to PBA chief statistician Fidel Mangonon III, when Welcoat dropped 16 in a row between two conferences.
Kia ended the first half ahead 49-47, a lead that went up in smoke in the third quarter when Magnolia launched a 15-2 bomb to go up 62-51.
The game wasn't out of Kia's reach until late in the quarter, when Magnolia went on a 16-4 run to extend its lead, 81-60, at the end of the third quarter.
Overall, Magnolia outscored Kia 77-28 after halftime.
