Grey shows Meralco Bolts what they're missing

MANILA, Philippines – Kelly Nabong was not the only former Meralco player to torch the Bolts on Sunday.

Jonathan Grey, who was drafted by Meralco in 2016, also showed his former team what they were missing by firing 24 points on an efficient 8-of-14 shooting clip, tying his career-high.

With Nabong and Grey leading the way, GlobalPort Batang Pier chalked up a huge 107-88 victory over Meralco in their PBA Philippine Cup showdown.

Nabong, who was released by Meralco at the end of the 2017 PBA Governors' Cup after a much-publicized argument with Jimmy Alapag, made it clear that his performance was not a "revenge game" in any way.

Grey, who landed in GlobalPort after a four-team trade in May 2017, shared the veteran's sentiments.

"Nothing personal," insisted Grey, whose 13 points in the third quarter helped GlobalPort stay in control of the contest. "Siguro, nagkakataon lang na every time na kalaban ko ang former team ko, sinu-swerte."
