Despite Pumaren's exit, Pasaol remains committed to UE

MANILA, Philippines – University of the East fans got a bit of good news last week when super scorer Alvin Pasaol reaffirmed his commitment to keep playing for the Red Warriors.

This, despite the exit of head coach Derrick Pumaren at the end of the UAAP Season 80 men's basketball tournament.

"Mag-stay ako," Pasaol said after making his debut for Marinerong Pilipino in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup last Thursday. "Maglalaro muna ako for my last two years."

Pasaol emerged as a full-fledged star for UE in 2017, taking charge for the Red Warriors on offense. Given the green light by Pumaren, the burly forward repaid his coach with a series of explosive performances, highlighted by a 49-point output against De La Salle University in the first round.

He wound up averaging 20.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, and earned Mythical Team honors at the end of Season 80.
