Arellano cruises to 5th win in NCAA women's volleyball

MANILA, Philippines – Arellano University cruised past Lyceum of the Philippines University on Sunday to stretch its winning streak to five games in the NCAA Season 93 women's volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Four players scored in double digits as the Lady Chiefs barreled past the Lady Pirates, 25-16, 25-17, 25-11.

Rookie Nicole Ebuen had 11 points, while team captain Mary Ann Esguerra, Regine Arocha, and Andrea Marzan each fired 10 points for the defending champion Arellano, who improved to 5-0. Their solid efforts more than made up for Jovielyn Prado's forgettable three-point performance.

In doing so, they regained the solo lead once more, leaving behind idle San Beda College (4-0).

The Lady Chiefs had a massive advantage in attacks, 41-20, and service aces, 9-3. They also got 24 free points from the Lady Pirates.

In the first women's game, University of Perpetual Help survived an error-strewn game to hack out a 25-21, 22-25, 25-14, 25-21 victory over Jose Rizal University (JRU).
