Coach Chot assures Ricci still welcome in 'inclusive' Gilas
MANILA, Philippines — Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes on Monday stressed that athletic swingman Ricci Rivero is still very much welcome to the National Team pool, after the De La Salle University standout made a surprise appearance at practice.
Rivero was left out of Reyes’ “23 for 23” wishlist, as the coach heeded De La Salle University’s request to exclude their players while the Green Archers go through a transition period.
The 19-year-old rising star, however, was welcome to observe the Gilas practice on Monday, which was attended by other members of the 23 for 23 group.
“They came in of their own volition, and sa akin naman, we’re all inclusive,” Reyes told reporters after practice.
“Wala naman tayong ‘di pinapayagan or ‘di pinapapunta,” he stressed.
