Arellano rallies, outlasts Perpetual in 5-set thriller

MANILA, Philippines – Arellano University displayed the heart of a champion as it recovered from a two-set deficit to stun University of Perpetual Help, 22-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-20, 15-5, in the NCAA Season 93 women's volleyball tournament on Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

The defending champions extended their winning streak to 18 games dating back to last season. They now have a 6-0 record in Season 93, and are assured of at least a playoff for a spot in the Final 4.

Arellano is back at the No. 1 spot and is three wins away from a sweep of the elimination round. Only three teams – San Beda College (5-0), De La Salle-College of St. Benilde (3-2), and San Sebastian College (3-2) – stand in their way.

"Of course, we want that because it will give us the advantage," Arellano coach Obet Javier said of a possible sweep. "But we need to work hard for it, because we're playing three tough teams."
