Alaska downs Blackwater for 4th straight win
Chris Banchero and Vic Manuel scored 16 points each, and Jeron Teng hit a crucial 3-pointer about a minute left in the game, as Alaska defeated Blackwater 88-84 in the PBA Philippine Cup at Araneta Coliseum on Saturday.
Alaska led a majority of the game, even going up by as many as 14 points and holding double-digit leads.
Then came the fourth quarter, when Blackwater got as close as one point, 81-80, 2:09 remaining in the game, thanks to Mike Digregorio's 3-pointer.
But 2 free throws by Banchero and a desperation 3-pointer by Teng grew Alaska's lead to 86-80.
Teng's split from the foul line with 6 seconds on the clock ensured Alaska's fourth straight win despite the absence of Calvin Abueva, who was out for personal reasons.
