Sta. Lucia earns first win in PSL Grand Prix

MANILA, Philippines – Sta. Lucia came out on top in a battle of winless teams as the Lady Realtors hacked out a 25-19, 25-21, 25-19 victory over Victoria Sports-UST in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) Grand Prix on Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Imports Bohdana Anisova and Marisa Field combined for 24 points, while former University of Santo Tomas (UST) star Pam Lastimosa contributed 11 points for Sta. Lucia.

The Tigresses were able to remain competitive in the early goings, but the Lady Realtors ultimately pulled away in the end of every set as they pounced on the less-experienced UST squad.

"Siguro may kulang pa," said Lastimosa, who scored nine of her points off kills, of her former team. "They (UST) are really fighting, and they're striving inside the court. I can see their effort. Siguro kasi isa lang ang import nila, but they're very good naman."

Sta. Lucia put up a wall at the net as they tallied eight blocks against only two for UST. They also had seven aces to UST's four.
