Standhardinger informed PBA officials of absence from Draft Combine

MANILA, Philippines — Filipino-German big man Christian Standhardinger put the minds of PBA fans at ease after revealing that he has already informed league officials that he would not attend the Draft Combine.

Standhardinger, the potential No. 1 pick in the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft, was the lone absentee in Monday’s event at the Gatorade Hoops Center.

His absence put his inclusion in the final list of potential draftees at risk, but Standhardinger revealed in the afternoon that he had already made it known that he will not be able to attend the two-day event meant to test the draft hopefuls.

“Hi guys, everything is good!” Standhardinger tweeted. “It is understood that I am officially under contract in Hong Kong, so I could not be at the PBA Draft Combine.”

Standhardinger is set to see action for Hong Kong Eastern in the ASEAN Basketball League.
