Fifth straight MVP not Fajardo’s priority, says it’s ‘more fun’ to win title
June Mar Fajardo has proven that he is the most dominant player of his generation when he won his fourth straight PBA MVP award Friday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The jovial center of San Miguel tied the accolades of the legendary Ramon Fernandez and the iconic Alvin Patrimonio and Fajardo needs just one more MVP plum to distinguish himself from the rest of the league.
A fifth MVP trophy, however, is not on Fajardo’s mind one bit.
“I’m more focused on winning the championship because it’s more fun to win the title,” said Fajardo in Filipino Friday at Smart Araneta Coliseum. “We wanted the Grand Slam but we fell short this year.”
Fajardo had already won five titles in his young career but he is still hungry for that elusive Grand Slam, a goal that has dangled in front of the Beermen since winning the 2015 Philippine Cup.
