Downtown letdown? Black wants Bolts to get better buckets

Norman Black acknowledged that Meralco failed miserably from the perimeter while fighting it out with Barangay Ginebra in Game 1 of the PBA Governors’ Cup title series.

The Bolts went 8-of-34 from the 3-point area for 23%, an unacceptable ratio for a team that shot a league-best 37% all conference long.

But what disappointed the Meralco head coach more is the team's failure to adjust when the shots weren't falling.

"Uncharacteristically, we took so many 3-point shots. We took about 34 and we only average 21 a game. We give them credit for the defense but at the same time, it was bad shot selections on our part," he said in the PBA website following their 102-87 Game 1 loss.

Black said the Bolts need to find other ways to score if they can't connect from the outside.
