Don't call it a slump: Perasol believes UP playing well, just not winning

MANILA, Philippines – University of the Philippines (UP) may have lost three games in a row, but for head coach Bo Perasol, this recent skid does not qualify as a "slump."

Instead, the coach believes that the Fighting Maroons have actually been playing quite well, only to fall short in the end game.

"I refuse to call it a slump," said Perasol after their losing streak hit three games on Sunday, with a painful 77-70 loss to National University. "I think we played well in the last two games. We weren't just rewarded in the game."

Indeed, outside of a 78-59 rout at the hands of Far Eastern University, UP has managed to keep in step with their opponents. They were neck-and-neck against Adamson University last week, only to lose via last-second tip-in by Sean Manganti; against the Bulldogs, they were held scoreless in the final 1:34 of the game.

"It's a matter of being mature enough to finish the game," said Perasol. "(We have to be) capable of closing the game."
