Cone anticipates 'real tight' Game 2 against TNT

MANILA, Philippines – Game 1 of the best-of-five PBA Governors' Cup semifinals between Barangay Ginebra and TNT KaTropa was simply a complete reversal of their elimination round encounter.

Back in September 23, TNT broke a tight game open in the second quarter en route to a massive 121-92 win. Glen Rice Jr. had 36 points, Jayson Castro added 28, and the KaTropa rifled in 17 three-pointers in the win.

Ginebra's Justin Brownlee stretches for a lay-up against TNT KaTropa in Game 1 of their PBA Governors' Cup semifinals series. Brownlee scored 21 points to lead the Gin Kings to a 121-94 win. Richard Esguerra, ABS-CBN Sports.
Ginebra coach Tim Cone had no excuse. They were "outplayed, outhustled, and outcoached," he admitted.

Eight days later, the shoe is on the other foot. The Gin Kings clamped down defensively, and shared the ball on offense to seize an equally impressive 121-94 win for a 1-0 lead in their semifinals showdown.

TNT coach Nash Racela merely echoed Cone's words when talking to reporters after the loss. "We were outplayed, we were outcoached, we were outhustled. Reversal naman today," he wryly said.

Cone, however, is reasonably confident that Game 2 on Wednesday will be a drastically different affair.
