Arellano's Salado hoping for the best after knee injury

MANILA, Philippines – Arellano University star Kent Salado is fervently hoping that he did not suffer a major injury after having to be helped off the court early in the first quarter of their NCAA Season 93 game against San Sebastian College on Tuesday.

Salado was having a superb game, already with 22 points and six assists, when San Sebastian's RK Ilagan landed on him at the 8:22 mark of the fourth quarter. The Arellano guard hit his right knee on the court and had to be helped out.

"Tumunog siya, kaya 'di ko na lang pinilit," said the 22-year-old Salado, who is averaging 18.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game for Arellano. "Baka lumala eh."

Much to Salado's relief, the Chiefs managed to pull out the victory even with him sidelined. Michael Canete, Zach Nicholls, Richard Abanes, and Levi dela Cruz took turns in scoring the big shots as the Chiefs took down the Stags, 85-79.

"Buti nag-step up sila lahat," he said.
