San Sebastian coach credits Stags after raining triples on Letran

MANILA, Philippines – San Sebastian College coach Egay Macaraya gave his players the green light to let it fly from beyond the arc, and the Golden Stags repaid his trust by steadily improving their outside shooting.

The Stags have only shot 28% from beyond the arc so far in NCAA Season 93, good for fifth in the league. Against Colegio de San Juan de Letran on Tuesday, however, they set a new record by making 16 of their 37 attempts for a blistering 43.24% clip. It was the most three-pointers that a team had made in the season.

The Knights, for their part, had no answer. They had only three triples, and the Stags cruised to a 95-64 win to fan their Final 4 chances.

"'Yung team naman, ganito talaga 'yung buhay namin," Macaraya said after the game. "We die (and) we win with the three-points."

"Good thing na right now, pumapasok naman. Hindi naman lahat, but at 42% sa three-points, masyadong mataas sa amin 'yan," he added.
