Perpetual arrests brief skid with hard-fought win over Letran

MANILA, Philippines – University of Perpetual Help opened its second-round campaign on a high note, outlasting Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 88-82, in overtime in the NCAA Season 93 men's basketball tournament on Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Behind another huge double-double from top MVP candidate Prince Eze, and balanced contributions from the rest of the Altas, Perpetual Help snapped a two-game slide to improve to 4-6.

With the victory, Perpetual Help is right back in the thick of the fight for a Final 4 spot, as they are just one game behind Letran (5-5), which is currently in fourth place.

"Simple lang naman ang ginawa namin, (we played na) walang pressure," said Perpetual coach Jimwell Gican. "Walang hesitant, especially in offense."

Eze came away with 21 points and 19 rebounds, hitting a huge jumper with just 40.9 seconds in overtime, which essentially served as the dagger. Gab Dagangon played his best game of the season, tallying 21 points and hitting key buckets in the fourth period.
