Manila visitor Caron Butler explains why Steph Curry won't win 2018 MVP
When Caron Butler was asked to give his crazy forecast for the next NBA MVP, it was the name he didn’t bring up that emerged as the hot take.
His “safe bets” are LeBron James, Kevin Durant and James Harden. His wild cards are Kyrie Irving, John Wall and Blake Griffin.
So why no mention of a certain back-to-back recipient of the Maurice Podoloff Award considered the meanest, baddest shooter of all time?
“Steph (Curry) can get it any time and he's won two already,” said Butler, who met with local media at the NBA Store at a Quezon City mall on Thursday.
The two-time all-star said he also doubts that Russell Westbrook will win the trophy again this season.
“(He) came off a triple double, so unless he averages another triple double in your mind you're not going to think MVP,” Butler said.
