Letran's Nambatac shrugs off season-low performance

MANILA, Philippines – Colegio de San Juan de Letran star Rey Nambatac is confident that he can bounce back after a disappointing performance in the Knights' blowout loss to San Sebastian College in the NCAA Season 93 tournament on Tuesday.

Nambatac, the Knights' leading scorer, was held to a season-low six points by the stifling San Sebastian defense, while also being forced to commit six of Letran's 21 turnovers. A high volume shooter who averaged over 14 field goals per game, Nambatac was forced to give up the ball and took only four field goals in the huge 64-95 loss.

Afterward, however, Nambatac stressed that the Stags did not do anything special on defense.

"Ano lang talaga, slow start, at bad game lang talaga," he insisted. "May mga ganoon talagang sitwasyon na pangit talaga ang laro mo."

The Knights had expected the Stags' tough, physical defense, according to Nambatac, but San Sebastian also got the jump on them. With their outside shots clicking, the Stags raced to an early 25-8 lead, and the Knights spent most of the game trying to rally back – to no avail.
