Letran's Bong Quinto is NCAA Press Corps Player of the Week

Bong Quinto unleashed heroic deeds to respond to Letran’s call to step up in the crucial stretch of the team’s Final Four rally, which earned him the Chooks-To-Go NCAA Press Corps Player of the Week for the August 18 to 24 period.

Quinto appeared to be Letran's knight in shining armor after averaging 21 points, 9 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in 30 minutes of action to lift his team to 2-0 this week. The Knights are tied with Jose Rizal University (JRU) in third spot with identical 7-6 win-loss cards.

With Letran’s playoff hopes on the line, the 20-year old Quinto rose to the occasion, racking up 20 points, eight rebounds and three assists in a pivotal 84-73 win over Arellano last Tuesday, which arrested their three-game slide and pushed them back to semi-final contention.

The former NCAA Juniors MVP then followed it up with a solid double-double performance, 20 points and 10 boards, to go along two assists in Letran's 88-79 demolition against the listless Mapua University.

Quinto outmuscled teammate Rey Nambatac, San Sebastian's Enzo Navarro, San Beda's Javee Mocon and CJ Perez of Lyceum for the weekly citation.
