Injured Sarr frustrated to miss game vs. Ateneo

MANILA, Philippines – An untimely groin injury robbed Adamson big man Papi Sarr of the opportunity to suit up in the Soaring Falcons' first game of the UAAP Season 80 men's basketball tournament – which turned out to be a huge 20-point loss to Ateneo de Manila University.

With Sarr sitting out, Ateneo center Chibueze Ikeh had his way inside the paint, scoring 18 points 6-of-10 shooting, while also grabbing 17 rebounds. As a team, the Blue Eagles had a massive 60-35 rebounding edge; they had 29 offensive boards that led to 29 second chance points.

"I was really frustrated," Sarr told reporters after the game – an 85-65 win for the Blue Eagles – on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena. "Seeing my teammates going down against Ateneo, I was really hurt, but that's part of the game."

What makes the loss even more frustrating for Sarr is he believes that they should have been the favored team against Ateneo.

"We're supposed to beat them," he said. "I didn't see anything new with them."
