CJ Perez earns nod as NCAA Player of the Week

MANILA, Philippines – For serving as the catalyst of Lyceum's back-to-back wins to open the second round of the NCAA Season 93 tournament, CJ Perez has earned the distinction of being the league's Player of the Week.

Just as he did throughout the course of the first round, Perez was once more the oil that made Lyceum's engine run, averaging 18 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal in the Pirates' first 2 victories of the second round.

Perez scored the Chooks-to-Go NCAA Press Corps Player of the Week award, beating out San Beda's Javee Mocon and the Perpetual Help pair of Prince Eze and Gab Dagangon for the weekly citation.

The 23-year-old Perez set the tone early for the Pirates last Tuesday, firing 14 points his 22 points in the first quarter while adding 9 rebounds in their 96-90 win over Mapua.

He then contributed 14 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals as the Pirates routed College of St. Benide, 83-69, on Friday.
