Slingers Re-Sign Veterans To Build Up For Another Title Run
The Singapore Slingers re-sign three players of their veteran core in their attempt at another ABL Finals run.
Xavier Alexander headlines the announcement of the returning crew as the World Import will return for a 3rd consecutive season. The multi-functional forward has been one of the top players in the ASEAN Basketball League for the past two years and is capable of impacting the game in many ways. Alexander is a nightly threat to notch a triple-double with career averages of 18.5 points, 101. rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 2.8 steals per game.
The Slingers announced that they will also be returning Desmond Oh and Ng Han Bin for the upcoming season.
It will be Oh’s 8th season playing in the ASEAN Basketball League. The seasoned veteran has played in an ABL All-Time high 150 games. The defensive stopper has long been a important part of the Singapore Slingers.
Another veteran that will be returning is Ng Han Bin who has been with the Slingers since the 2010-2011 season. Han Bin is coming off one of his most successful seasons with the Slingers as a long range threat. He hit a career-high 40.6% from downtown and had one game with a career-high 7 three point shots.
“Securing the services of Xavier, Han Bin, and Desmond for the upcoming ABL season is a great start to building our roster for another championship run,” said Head Coach Neo Beng Siang (H/T Singapore Slingers).
Coach Neo also mentioned that the remaining players of the Slingers roster will most likely be announced after the SEA Games 2017, since most players are playing for the National Team.
“We will look at the form of all the National Team players at the SEA Games before deciding on the final make up of our 2017-18 roster.” (H/T Singapore Slingers)
The Singapore Slingers have experienced success with Alexander, Oh, and Han Bin playing for the team during the past two seasons. Therefore, getting them to return for the upcoming season is a great start for their preparations heading into next year.
