Marinerong Pilipino, Tanduay dispute last PBA D-League semis spot

MANILA, Philippines – A fired-up Marinerong Pilipino squad will try to finish off the Tanduay Rhum Masters when they battle on Tuesday for the final semifinal spot in the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Skippers stunned the Rhum Masters, 74-72, last Thursday to force a winner-take-all game in their quarterfinals.

Tanduay coach Lawrence Chongson still believes that his team's veteran core will be poised enough to fend off Marinerong Pilipino, as they try to avoid wasting a twice-to-beat advantage.

"Itong mga ganitong do-or-die games ang nagpapa-excite sa amin," he said. "We would have wanted to go the easy way out, but it is what is."

"Our opponents were able to prove that in spite of being newcomers, they're no pushovers. So we'll have to show them more respect, I suppose, moving forward to Game 2," he added.
