Perlas Pilipinas misses a podium finish
KUALA LUMPUR – Perlas Pilipinas missed the Top Three for the second straight Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) and is thus returning home empty handed yet again.
The moment Thailand topped Indonesia, 70-61, Friday night, Perlas coach Patrick Aquino knew they would be out of the medal picture and issued an apology to the nation.
“Sorry for not getting any medal again. We promised gold but fell short,” said Aquino. “We will come back stronger and better next time.”
Perlas did finish outside the Top Three as Indonesia bounced back from its loss to Thailand with an 83-64 rout of Singapore Saturday.
