Next match yet another stepping stone for title-seeking Kevin Belingon
Kevin Belingon feels he needs to make a statement when he crosses paths with former title contender Reece McLaren on August 18.
The Team Lakay stalwart said a victory over the Fil-Aussie fighter will bring him closer to another shot against ONE bantamweight champion Bibiano Fernandes of Brazil.
“My initial goal is to continue winning until I get closer to the title and become a champion,” Belingon said.
Belingon had his chance to vie for the title in January 2016 when he challenged Fernandes. But things did not go his way as the Brazilian champion swiftly submitted him with a Kimura in the opening stanza.
He then took several months off before re-emerging last October and dealing Muin Gafurov’s second professional loss. Belingon followed it up with a sensational knockout victory over Finnish Toni Tauru in April.
