Mayweather boasts of making $300M vs McGregor

MANILA, Philippines – Floyd Mayweather Jr. is expecting to take home a huge amount of cash in his fight with Conor McGregor on August 26, and he made sure to remind everyone about it.

Speaking at broadcaster Showtime’s “All Access: Mayweather v. McGregor” preview special, Mayweather said he will make no less than a whopping $300 million (approximately Php15 billion) in his 12-round boxing match with McGregor.

He stressed that he will be earning the mammoth purse in just minutes, not years as other high-profile athletes in other sports do.

"I mean, am I the highest-paid athlete out there? And just coming back? We not talking about no contract. We not talking about no contract for no four years, or no contract for no five years. I can do it in 36 minutes. $300 (million) or better. In 36 minutes," said the undefeated American, who is coming out of retirement to take on the UFC star.

McGregor, for his part, will have  a reported purse of about $75 million.

A consistent member of Forbes’ annual lists of top-paid athletes in the world, Mayweather raked in at least $250 million in his 2015 fight with Manny Pacquiao – which went down as the richest bout in boxing history.
