Alab ‘trying to keep’ Parks Jr. and Ravena together
Alab Pilipinas will have a new voice calling the shots for the looming 2017-2018 Asean Basketball League.
With first-time head coach Jimmy Alapag at the helm, the Filipinos will be more determined than ever to take back the regional trophy to their home country.
However, the new mentor is yet to have a final lineup to guide. “Today’s my first day. We’re still in the process of building the team,” he said in his introductory press conference in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig last Saturday.
Of course, Alab already have a couple of names on their minds. As team manager Charlie Dy put it, “We’re trying to keep Ray and Kiefer, definitely. People will just have to wait for the next two weeks.”
Dy was referring to Ray Parks Jr. and Kiefer Ravena who joined up for two semifinals games in the Philippines’ previous campaign.
A season ago, Parks Jr. averaged 19 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists en route to being recognized as local MVP while Ravena starred in the Final Four matchups against rival Singapore.
