Perpetual Help protests forfeiture of win over St. Benilde

MANILA, Philippines – Perpetual Help has filed a protest on the decision of the NCAA to forfeit the Altas' 69-65 victory over College of St. Benilde last Tuesday for wearing the wrong-colored jerseys.

In a protest sent Wednesday, Perpetual Help sought to have the Altas' victory upheld, and questioned why they were penalized for their infraction twice.

The Perpetual-St. Benilde game was delayed for over 40 minutes as the Management Committee deliberated on what to do. Eventually, the two squads were allowed to play, with game officials calling a technical foul on the Altas and awarding a technical free throw to the Blazers.

At the end of the final game of Tuesday's triple-header, however, the NCAA ManCom announced that Perpetual's win will be forfeited.

NCAA ManCom chairman Fr. Glyn Ortega, OAR, of host school San Sebastian said on Thursday that they are still discussing the issue.

"We're still deliberating on it," he said.
