Jerwin Ancajas targets big names in weight class
Following another impressive victory, reigning world junior bantamweight king Jerwin Ancajas said he hopes to test himself against the more recognizable names in his weight division.
These include Roman Gonzalez of Nicaragua and Juan Francisco Estrada of Mexico.
Gonzalez is a former pound-for-pound king, while Estrada is the former unified flyweight champion who now campaigns as a junior bantamweight.
“Gusto ko ring masubukan ang galing nila. Si Gonzalez kasi ay slugger-counterpuncher. Si Juan Estrada naman maraming suntok at strategist,” Ancajas, who was feted with a parade in his hometown of Panabo City on Tuesday, told ABS-CBN News.
Fight analyst Ed Tolentino said it would be interesting to see Ancajas exchange punches with Estrada.
"Estrada is a skilled tactician like Ancajas. It will be like watching two boxing artists compare notes," he said.
