Hotshots play Aces

IT's always a serious concern for a team when it plays someone likened to a  'wounded tiger'.

The Star Hotshots will experience how it is to be one as they play an Alaska team that’s dying to get a breakthrough win in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

“We need to be sharp and focused for this game,” said Star coach Chito Victolero, referring to the Hotshots’ 7 p.m. encounter with the Aces at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

“We know Alaska will bounce back and try to do everything to win the game,” added Victolero.

The Aces, who  frequently made the playoffs a few conferences back, are  on a terrible funk, dropping their first two outings against NLEX on opening day, 112-104, and Phoenix, 95-93, last Saturday.

The Hotshots, on the other hand,  kicked off their campaign in the season-ending conference with a 103-86 rout of Blackwater last Sunday despite getting minimal output from import Cinmeon Bowers.

Bowers scored just 15 points, hauled down eight rebounds and issued five assists in a short-lived stint with the Hotshots, whose management has decided to replace him immediately to bolster their campaign right away in the cutthroat elimination phase.
