Boomers 12-man Asia Cup squad announced
An all NBL squad will lead the Boomers into battle when the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup gets underway in August.
With injuries to key players including Kevin Lisch, Chris Goulding and Nathan Sobey; plenty of spots were up for the taking ahead of the official team announcement.
Former Olympians David Andersen and Brad Newley headline the squad which features plenty of players who will be suiting up for the Boomers for their first time.
While every team -- apart from the New Zealand Breakers -- is represented, the Sydney Kings can boast the biggest number of players with three; Jason Cadee, Todd Blanchfield and Newley.
Head coach Andrej Lemanis spoke about the opportunity presented to the young squad assembled:
"It is a great opportunity for the first-timers to get that international experience with the Boomers which will serve us well as we progress through the qualification process," said Lemanis.
"I've been so impressed and humbled with the attitude that everyone came into camp with. I know how much it means to them to be in a Boomers environment and every time you are around them, it reminds you just how lucky we are to be involved in a wonderful program with wonderful people."
The Boomers will head into training camp before flying out to Beirut on the 2nd of August ahead of their opening clash against Japan on the 8th of August.
