Biado off to fiery start in World Games
MANILA, Philippines - Carlo Biado got his bid in the World Games off to rousing start, beating German Joshua Filler, 11-5, at the start of pool action Wednesday at Wroclaw Congress Center in Wroclaw, Poland.
From an 8-5 count, Biado showcased his shotmaking and took the next three racks to finish off the German and advance to the quarterfinal round set Friday.
The Pinoy ace next faces Polish Mieszko Fortunski, who outlasted Chinese Wu Jiaqing in a hill-hill battle, 11-10.
Phl’s other bet in pool, youthful lady cuemaster Chezka Centeno, was slated to kickoff her campaign Thursday (today in Manila) in a Round of 16 encounter against New Zealander Molrudee Kasemchaiyan.
Biado and Centeno are seeking to duplicate, if not surpass, the bronze medal feat of Dennis Orcollo in the 2013 edition of the meet featuring non-Olympic sports and events.
