Bali Pure banks on veteran poise to boot out young Adamson
MANILA -- Bali Pure was coasting to a sweep before Adamson University put up a fight on Wednesday at the FIloil Flying V Centre.
In the end, however, the Water Defenders just had much more poise than their younger opponents.
Jerrili Malabanan and Grethcel Soltones scored 16 and 14 points, respectively, as Bali Pure took down the Lady Falcons in four sets, 15-18, 25-23, 19-25, and 25-20, to boost its bid for the semifinals in the 2017 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.
It wasn’t by their hands that the Water Defenders got the much-needed win. Instead, it was two errors from their opponents that ultimately allowed them to get back on track in the tournament.
Nonetheless, they’re taking the win, as well as the improvement to a 3-3 standing.
“Siyempre, masaya pa rin kami sa panalo,” a relieved head coach Roger Gorayeb said post-game.
