Adamson unveils another weapon in Chiara Permentilla

MANILA, Philippines – There is a reason that many pundits consider the Adamson Lady Falcons a team to watch out for in the upcoming UAAP volleyball wars.

A year after managing a 1-13 win-loss record, the Lady Falcons have reloaded behind returning skipper Jema Galanza, who will be joined by comebacking veterans Fem Emnas and Mylene Paat, as well as May Roque who will make her return after a one-year injury layoff.

What has gotten volleyball fans truly excited, however, is the presence of recruits who will give Adamson more weapons to work with after a season that saw Galanza struggle to carry the team by herself. One of those recruits, Chiara Permentilla, showed on Wednesday that there is reason for the hype.

After not suiting up in their first game against Creamline, then going scoreless in their limited time against Perlas in their second assignment, Permentilla exploded for 24 points in a 25-20, 24-26, 25-19, 25-22 win over the Power Smashers in the PVL Open Conference on Wednesday.

She had 19 points on kills to go with two blocks and three aces. Permentilla capped off a superb performance by scoring the final kill that wrapped up the victory for Adamson.

"Sobrang thankful and blessed, I guess. After this game, (I felt) na worth it lahat ng hard work sa practice," said Permentilla, a transferee from De La Salle-Lipa who spent parts of her childhood in Italy. "Sabi nga lagi ni coach Air (Padda), your time will come. I guess, tonight, it is my time."
