Pagunsan, Que settle for Top 10
Juvic Pagunsan and Angelo Que committed costly bogeys to fade out of title contention before settling for places in the Top 10 in the conclusion of the Queen’s Cup yesterday at the Santiburi Country Club in Koh Samui, Thailand.
Pagunsan carded a 2-under 69 marred by a bogey on the fourth hole and a double-bogey on the 9th while Que salvaged an even-par 71 but not after a double-bogey on the 8th and a bogey on the 9th that put to waste his chance of winning his first Asian Tour crown since 2010.
Pagunsan settled fourth place with a four-day aggregate 272, three shots off winner Nicholas Fung of Malaysia, to settle for a cash prize of $25,000 (P1.25 million)
Que, on the other hand, joined Thai Prayad Marksaeng and Indian Rashid Khan in a three-way share of sixth at 275 to take home $14,833.33 (P739,363.33).
Antonio Lascuna, the other Filipino in the tournament, shot a respectable 70 in the final round for joint 48th at 288.
Of the three golfers, it was Que who had the strongest opportunity of topping the event. He even had a one-shot lead after seven holes highlighted by consecutive birdies on the 4th to 6th holes.
