Missing Alapag, TNT's Castro relieved to have RR Garcia by his side
MANILA, Philippines — TNT's Jayson Castro is missing Jimmy Alapag, especially now that KaTropa's bracing for another Finals run.
But Castro's also not worrying that much. After all, the Tropang Texters got the next best thing.
"Parang kapag may RR Garcia ka, may Jimmy Alapag ka eh," he offered during the Commissioner's Cup Finals presser at a restaurant in Libis, Monday.
Castro and Alapag each had six PBA titles. All of those championships, the tandem won together.
And now, sans the "Mighty Mouse," "The Blur" will look to continue his hunt for his seventh. Now by his side is RR Garcia—a champion from the San Miguel Beer's run in the previous conference and coach Nash Racela's former ward.
"Hindi siya [ka-level ni Jimmy] sa leadership, pero 'yung basketball I.Q. nandoon talaga," Castro said of Garcia. "Ang galing niyang mag-read ng defense, at the same time, 'yung outside shot niya, maganda."
