Kiefer sets sights on record-breaking 4th SEA Games basketball gold
MANILA, Philippines — Former Ateneo star Kiefer Ravena relishes the opportunity to win an unprecedented fourth gold medal in Southeast Asian Games basketball.
Ravena on Tuesday night was named to the 12-man line-up for the 2017 edition of the SEA Games, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on August 19-30.
For the two-time UAAP Most Valuable Player, his inclusion in the SEAG roster is an honor, especially as he was a late call-up to the Gilas Pilipinas pool.
"I have the chance to get my fourth gold medal and be the only one to do it," said Ravena, whose three basketball gold medals in the regional competition tie him with Rommel Adducul.
Adducul was part of the Philippine team that won gold in the 1997, 1999, and 2001 SEA Games.
"Hopefully, I get to repay the trust that coach Chot (Reyes) has given me, especially na ako 'yung isa sa mga bago dito sa team," Ravena said. "As of now, my sight is on that gold medal. 'Yun ang kailangan namin magawa."
