Celtics PG Isaiah Thomas excited to receive All-Defensive team vote

Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas was the NBA's third-leading scorer during the 2016-17 season, averaging 28.9 points per game to trail only MVP winner Russell Westbrook and James Harden.

But if there's one area of Thomas' game that draws criticism from time to time, it's his defense. He isn't exactly known for being a lockdown defender.

So when he noticed that he received one All-Defensive team vote on this year's ballot, he was ecstatic and couldn't help but take to Twitter to jokingly express his satisfaction toward the person who gave him a vote.
Thomas has been made aware in the past that there's no All-Defensive third team, so that last comment might have been his humorous spin on the matter.

According to the NBA's balloting list, Marcelo Nogueira of the Argentinian website "Ole" is the one who voted for Thomas, as well as Stephen Curry, to the All-Defensive second team. Nogueira is also one of only two voters to leave Draymond Green, who won the award, off his Defensive Player of the Year ballot.

While Thomas tries to improve his defense in coming seasons, he was an All-NBA selection (second team) for the first time in his career. He also received 49 total votes for the league's MVP award, finishing fifth behind Westbrook, Harden, Kawhi Leonard and LeBron James.
