Batangas surges to solo second, keeps AMA winless

MANILA, Philippines – Batangas rose to solo second place in the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup after crushing the hapless AMA Online Education, 95-76, on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Jhaps Bautist and Joseph Sedurifa got off to a hot start for the Batangueños, who took a 22-10 lead in the first period.

Their advantage ballooned to 21 points, 55-34, with 6:13 left in the third quarter as Batangas cruised to their third win in four games.

"Maganda 'yung naging investment namin noong nakaraang conference. 'Yung core ng team ay intact, at sa tingin ko, naa-absorb na nila 'yung mga gusto ko para sa isang team," said coach Eric Gonzales.

Bautista scored 12 of his 22 points in the first two frames, while also hauling down six rebounds. Sedurifa contributed 16 points, eight boards, and two steals off the bench.

Cedrick Ablaza had 11 points and seven rebounds in Batangas' bounce-back win. They suffered their first loss, a 70-72 setback to CEU, last Thursday.
