Alab Pilipinas Finds New Partner in San Miguel
On Thursday, Alab team owner Charlie Dy went to social media to announce the team’s new partnership.
In Dy’s Instragram account, he posted “Alab Pilipinas welcomes our new partners #SanMiguelPalePilsen #Petron and #Magnolia and will now be called #SanMiguelAlabPilipinas.”
The San Miguel Corporation is a Philippine-based company who is mostly known for its flagship product, San Miguel Beer. San Miguel is also largest publicly listed food, beverage, and packaging company in Southeast Asia.
San Miguel is mostly present in the Philippine Basketball Association, supporting three teams in the San Migueel Beermen, Magnolia Hotshots, and Barangay Ginebra.The signing between Alab and San Miguel also marks the return of the beer company into the ABL. Back in 2012, they were known as the San Miguel Beermen. They eventually won the ABL crown a year later in 2013.
Alab is currently in fourth place in the ABL standings sporting a 7-4 record. They are currently riding a four-game winning streak.
San Miguel Alab Pilipinas will formally make its debut against the Singapore Slingers on Sunday, February 4.
