Wangs-Letran overhauls 19-point deficit to shock Che'Lu-San Sebastian
MANILA, Philippines – Rey Publico came to the rescue of Wangs Basketball-Letran, scoring the go-ahead basket to lift his side to an 83-82 squeaker over Che'Lu Bar and Grill-San Sebastian College in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup on Monday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
The veteran center recovered the ball after Jeo Ambohot failed to receive the inbound pass. Publico then proceeded to convert the undergoal stab that gave Wangs the lead for good with just 4.1 seconds left to play.
His bucket completed Wangs' comeback from 19 points down, and kept his team unbeaten in the conference.
"Actually, 'yun 'yung designed play. Kay Jeo 'yung lob pass pero maganda 'yung defense nila. Na-fumble tapos napunta kay Rey. Ayun, pumasok," said Wangs coach Jeff Napa.
Bong Quinto sparked their fourth-quarter rally, as he scored 13 of his 21 points in the final frame. He also collected 12 rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
