The one factor Kia coach Ricky Dandan credits in team’s breakthough win

Kia coach Ricky Dandan is relieved to see his players perform collaboratively not just in stretches but for an entire game.

Because of that, Kia pulled off a 98-94 stunner against Rain Or Shine in the PBA Philippine Cup Saturday to end a slump that dated back to last May.

“I'm relieved more than being tired, I'm always tired after games,” said Dandan, who took over coaching duties at Kia following Chris Gavina’s exit earlier this season.

Kia still lost 2 straight even after Dandan’s appointment. He said this is where he found out what was plaguing his team.

“After we lost 2 games, I realized that we were not a team . . . that is my priority now to see to it that they become a team,” he said.

“I'm happy to see them play that way, this is the first time we played as a team for 48 minutes. Everybody contributed and everybody had each other's back.”
