San Sebastian pummels Lyceum in NCAA women's volleyball
MANILA, Philippines – San Sebastian College seized the momentum after winning a close first set and eventually dominated Lyceum of the Philippines University in straight sets on Sunday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Lady Stags were lethargic at the start of the game, but after taking the opening frame, they went on to cruise to a 25-23, 25-6, 25-14 triumph.
It was San Sebastian's fourth consecutive win in the NCAA Season 93 women's volleyball tournament, hiking their record to 5-2.
Nikka Dalisay had 16 points to lead all scorers, four of which came on service aces. Joyce Sta. Rita and Dangie Encarnacion each fired 10 points, while Julie Anne Tiangco exposed Lyceum's reception as she tallied eight points off her serve.
The Lady Pirates showed their fighting spirit in the opening frame, but fell apart down the stretch. They were never able to recover, and they lost for the sixth time in seven games.
With skipper Sta. Rita struggling, it was Dalisay who took charge on offense for San Sebastian. Sta. Rita had averaged 22 points in their past two games but was mostly ineffective against the Lady Pirates.
